Construction of new School Sewer Pump Station – Laingsburg

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involved the construction of a new sewer pump station, featuring 13m-deep wet and dry wells, interconnecting pipework, and fully equipped pumping systems. The facility is secured with a galvanized palisade fence, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable wastewater management to support the school and surrounding community.

Construction of Bergsig Sports Facility – Phase One

Erosion Protection At Hex River: Zwelethemba: Worcester – Phase 2

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project upgraded and protected key bridge infrastructure through civil and structural works. Scope included riprap embankment construction for erosion control, reinforced concrete abutment headwalls, safety upgrades with new parapets, and concrete repairs to extend bridge service life. A new 315mm HDPE pipeline and erf connections enhanced water reticulation. Combining robust structural improvements with essential utility upgrades, the works ensure long-term resilience, safety, and reliable service delivery for the surrounding community.

Upgrading of Langebaan Wastewater Treatment Works

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

WEC-Consult (Pty) Ltd was appointed to increase the treatment capacity of the works in phases, ultimately achieving 7 Mℓ/d. The upgrade comprised the construction of several key structures, including a new inlet works, biological reactor, secondary settling tank, sludge handling facility with sludge drying beds, a chlorine contact channel, and an irrigation pump station, complete with all associated mechanical and electrical equipment.

The works in this contract include bulk earthworks for the formation of a suitable platform (including stormwater management structures (detention ponds), Retaining structures, earthworks and layerworks for the construction of a surfaced road network (with kerbing and channelling). Also included is the provision of all internal civil infrastructure (sewer, water, stormwater etc) with erf connections for sewer and water (water connections individually metered).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As Lead Consultant on this project WEC-Consult was tasked with the rezoning to subdivisional areas and subdivision of the sites to allow for phased construction of 891 single dwelling residential erven, several portions of road, and public open spaces. This ran in parallel with the NEMA approval process. We were then tasked with the design, procurement and construction monitoring for the installation of basic engineering services. And finally as Principal Agent we ensured the successful construction of all 891 top structures.

Upgrading of Scottsdene Wastewater Treatment Works

WEC-Consult Pty Ltd was appointed to increase the secondary-settling, inletworks and sludge handling capacities. The project included construction of a new 15 Mℓ/d ADWF inlet works, a new raw sewer pump station an emergency storage pond, two 28 m diameter secondary settling tanks and installation and commissioning of a new 100m3 per hour sludge dewatering press.

Southern extension of Van Der Stel Street

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

WEC-Consult was appointed to construct a dual carriageway (540m length) with two lanes in each direction, accompanied by the upgrading of the connecting intersections. Underground, the water distribution network was upgraded with the construction of watermains (560mm and 250mm HDPE) on either side of the road. Stormwater infrastructure was constructed to handle stormwater run-off for the new road.

WEC-Consult is appointed as a “L3 Contractor” with Pragma Africa (Pty) Ltd and are regularly tasked to conduct Structural Integrity inspections on various Shell Service Station Canopies and other building structures across the country, that are followed by an appointment as the Structural Engineers to design a new Canopy Structure (or other structures) if required, including approval of the designs and final sign off at completion.  WEC-Consult have been involved in the construction of the following canopies, amongst others: Oribi Toll Plaza Shell SS (Durban), Aboos Shell SS (Port Elizabeth), Sherwood Motors Shell SS (Port Elizabeth), Milton Motors Shell SS (Cape Town), Berkley Motors Shell SS (Cape Town), Kommetjie Shell SS (Cape Town), Marshalls Beach Shell SS (Fishhoek), Seamans Motors Shell SS (Graaff Reinet).

New 5600m² warehouse for Stellenbosch Vineyards in Stellenbosch
